US attorney doesn’t rule out Trump charges

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin of Washington, D.C., on Thursday promised a criminal review of “all actors” in the assault on the U.S. Capitol. Asked if the review will include President Donald Trump and his statements to supporters before the riot, Sherwin replied, “We are looking at all actors here, and anyone that had a role, if the evidence fits the element of a crime, they’re going to be charged.” Trump had urged supports to “fight like hell” and to march to the Capitol. Prosecutors have already charged 15 people, Sherwin said. (The Washington Post, CNN)

The city of Detroit’s bid for sanctions against Trump campaign election lawyers says “a dark strain of paranoia” infected their suit. Detroit wants sanctions imposed on lawyers L. Lin Wood and Sidney Powell for their failed suit seeking to overturn Michigan election results. When Reuters reached Wood for comment, he said the publication is “a Communist propaganda tool.” (Reuters Legal)
